Catching distracted drivers in Burns Lake

Burns Lake Citizens on Patrol (COPS) partnered with the Burns Lake RCMP and ICBC to catch distracted drivers last Thursday in Burns Lake. According to Ruby Matsko, COPS coordinator, out of 398 vehicles, two drivers were using their cellphones, eight did not have their seat belts on, and five had other distractions such as drinking coffee or having a dog on their lap. Speed limits were also monitored throughout the day.

Speed limits were also monitored throughout the day. Out of 556 vehicles, 42 were going 10 km above the speed limit and 12 vehicles were going 20 km above the speed limit.
