Lots to see and do at annual Fall Fair

The 74th annual Lakes District Fall Fair takes place at the Eagle Creek Fairgrounds, one kilometre south of Burns Lake, Friday to Sunday, Sept. 8-10, 2017.

This year’s fair will feature Friday night teen night, the agricultural and animal exhibits, the 4-H auction, the children’s festival, the music festival, helicopter rides, lawn mower races, stock dog competition, heavy horse pull, gymkhana, and much more.

In the exhibit hall, watch for arts and crafts demonstrations, information booths by non-profit organizations, as well as displays of award-winning baking, fruits and vegetables, photography, children’s arts and crafts and more.

Endako artist Clare Singleton will be walking the fair grounds on Saturday, sketching various fair activities. There will be a wide range of food vendors indoors and out, as well as cotton candy, popcorn, ice cream and pies.

You can find out more about the fair at http://www.ldfallfair.com.

Terry Fox run at the Francois Lake Hall

Another long-running and successful local event, the Terry Fox run, which raises funds for cancer research, takes place on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Francois Lake Hall.

Registration is at noon, and the run/walk/bike/paddle begins at 1 p.m. sharp. There will be live entertainment all afternoon long, and the popular silent auction featuring quality donated items, fresh baking and a fresh vegetable harvest auction.

Come and contribute to a good cause, and say hello to neighbours and friends.
