Series of art workshops coming up in Burns Lake and Granisle

Teen art camp

A teen art camp will be held from Tuesday, Aug. 22, to Friday, Aug. 25, at the Burns Lake Public Library. Pre-registration is required for this art camp for teens ages 13-18, and there is a $25 materials fee. For more information or to pre-register, phone the Burns Lake library at 250-692-3192. This workshop is supported in part by Lakes Literacy and the Lakes District Arts Council and its financial partners.

Art camp for children

An art camp for children eight years old and over will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 24, at the College of New Caledonia in Burns Lake. At this camp, children will explore different art activities including painting, fused glass, drawing and sewing. Pre-register at the Burns Lake Public Library. The fee is $10 per child per day, and bursaries are available. The sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. This workshop is supported by the Lakes District Arts Council and its financial partners, and takes place in partnership with local artists.

‘Paint the lake’ workshop

The ‘paint the lake’ workshop will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, and Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Granisle Tourist Information Centre. This free painting workshop for intermediate artists will be taught by Steve Wilejto and will focus on creating water-focused landscapes. A partnership between the College of New Caledonia (CNC), the Village of Granisle and the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has made this workshop possible. Pre-registration is required at CNC in Burns Lake.
