Burns Lake council has recently approved the village’s official logo (L), which is part of a municipal sign strategy passed in May 2016. Village staff has contacted chief and councils of the six local First Nations to determine whether they felt the new logo was culturally appropriate. The village says they received no negative feedback. The village’s old logo (R) was designed by local artist Bonny Remple in 1997. Remple holds the copyright for the logo, but has agreed to allow the village to use a portion of the original logo. According to the village, some promotional materials still have the old logo and will continue to be given out until stocks are depleted.
