Barbara Lucille Peden (nee Grainger)
June 20 1929 to March 23 2009
Barbara was born at Lloydminster Alberta, the youngest of 4 children, to James Grainger and Eleanor nee Heath. The family left their farm at McLoughlin to come to the Nadina River Settlement in the summer of 1936. Predeceased by her Parents and Siblings and both of her husbands “Pete,” Napoleon Pierre Tourond in Jan 1977, and “Bill” William Lindsay Peden in Oct 2000. She was a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Farm girl, Waitress, Camp Cook, Handy Man’s Helper, Tree Planter, Big Game Guide and Active Community Member, she was many different things to many people, She may be remembered by some as Barbara, Barb, Barbie or Babs, as Grainger, Tourond or Peden, but she will be remembered by all for her strong work ethic and her humor and for the direct way in which she expressed her opinions.
She will be lovingly remembered always by her son Jim Tourond, and daughter in law Leah, her grandson Loren Tourond and his wife Jenny, her granddaughter Naomi Hanson nee Tourond and her husband Chad, and two great grandchildren Noah Hanson and Kaitlyn Hanson. She also leaves to mourn her passing a number of Heath and Grainger cousins and their families as well as her step family the Pedens and Baxters in Nevada, and many friends and neighbors through out the Lakes District. She spent most of 70 years out of nearly 80 here in the place she loved best, amongst the people she cared the most about. We will miss her through out the rest of our lives.
A Memorial Gathering and Lunch was held at the Trout Creek Hall on Francois Lake on April 4th, it was attended by family and friends coming from Smithers Houston, Fulton River, Burns Lake and Prince George as well as from along the north shore of Francois Lake and Wistaria.
A Heart felt Thank You to all those who showed their sympathy and concern in such generous and caring ways following the death of my Mother and our Grandmother Sincerely Jim Tourond (Leah), Loren Tourond (Jenny), Naomi Hanson (Chad) and family.
