February 20, 2008

StephensonRobertobitpic

Bob was born in New Westminster, BC, the third child to Bea and Charlie Stephenson.  He was raised in Burns Lake where he later met his future bride, Ivy Comeau.  They moved to the Lower Mainland where they married and their two sons Chad and Cory were born.  They returned to Burns Lake in 1975 with their young family where Bob worked for the Department of Highways.  Bob then spent fifteen years with CN Rail, later working for PNG, resulting in a transfer to Terrace where they lived for thirteen years.  In 2006 they decided to have an adventure and moved to Port Hardy to manage an apartment building.  This also had the advantage of bringing them closer to their son Cory, daughter-in-law Lindsay, and grandson Ethan.  Bob became a part of Port Hardy and loved living on the ocean.  He passed peacefully on February 20, 2008 in the Port Hardy Hospital from pancreatic cancer.

Bob is survived by Ivy, his wife of thirty-five years, son Cory (Lindsay), grandson Ethan, grandson Evan Jennings, brothers Charles (Mary-Lou), John (Gill), Randy, sisters Diane and Wendy, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his son Chad, sister Brenda, parents Bea and Charlie, brother-in-law Jim Buller and niece Jessica Buller.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16th , 2:00 o’clock at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 50, where Bob was a member for 25 years.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to any cancer society.
