Vernon 55 plus Games a great time

Burns Lake residents brought home 10 medals from the 55 plus Games held in Vernon on Sept. 12-16. Athlete Sandra Barth said the event was “a great time and the weather was very good with only a bit of smoke.” Randy Miller won silver (golf); John Barth won gold, silver and bronze (track & field); Sandra Barth brought home two gold and two bronze medals (track & field); Karen Ritchey received gold (equestrian); and Paul and Doris Jean got bronze (crib).

Granisle athlete Mildred Bernard won gold at carpet bowling. Topley residents brought home four medals - Jim Owens and Carolyn Castle won silver (darts); Terrence Bayfield won silver (darts); Jim Owens and Terrence Bayfield won another silver medal (darts); and Terrence and Trish Bayfield got bronze (darts). Next year, the 55 plus Games will be Sept. 11-15 hosted by Cranbrook/Kimberley, and will feature events from a-z (archery-whist).
