The $1.55 million runway resurfacing project, which started on July 26, was completed last week.
According to Reg Blackwell, president of the Lakes District Airport Society, not resurfacing the runway could’ve resulted in the closure of the airport.
The resurfacing will ensure that the airport remains operational for residents, businesses and emergency services.
