Since starting at the Village of Burns Lake as an administrative assistant nearly three years ago, local, Stephanie Beerling has been steadily working her way up the ranks.

In April 2011 she was promoted to the deputy director of corporate services position and most recently she has earned the title of director of corporate services.

As reported in the Lakes District News edition of April 13, 2011, Beerling  is  undertaking a public administration program at Capilano University as well as local government administration courses at the University of Northern British Columbia.

According to Sheryl Worthing, village chief administrative officer, Beerling has been working towards the promotion through completing her studies for the past two years.

"Stephanie was required to complete the Local Government Administration Certificate to qualify for this promotion, as per her employment contract," Worthing said.

"She is now the corporate officer for the municipality which is a statutory position responsible for ensuring accurate minutes, certifying bylaws and other documents and ensuring access to village documents, in addition to her regular duties."

Worthing who was assuming the role of the director of corporate services in the interim previously said to Lakes District News, "The director of corporate services is statutory so we are required to have someone in that position.”

“In our case I assumed that role as chief administrative officer, until such time as the deputy is promoted," Worthing said.
