The results are in and bike to work week in Burns Lake was a rousing success.

Eight different teams biked over 1400 km and burned over 43,000 calories doing so.

The seven teams were the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Burnt Bikes, Babine Forest Products, College of New Caledonia, Village of Burns Lake, Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako and Free Growing Forestry.

As well, there were a number of individuals who entered as their own team.

In total, Burns Lake had a total of 59 riders from seven teams and three individual riders, including 42 new riders that sign up.

The prize winners were as follows.

The grand prize winner was Sophie Shaffer, who won a multi-use membership, Tina Giesbrecht and Krystin St. Jean who both won a free bike tune up from Burnt Bikes, Pat Dube, who won a Burns Lake Mountain Bike Association membership and David Ashurst, who won one Big Pig draw.

Jeff Ragsdale, Development Services Coordinator for Burns Lake said, "We are very proud of our community and the number of kilometers ridden for bike to work week 2014."
