Francois Lake Elementary student Finn Elliot was one of several students of School District No. 91 (Nechako Lakes) who brought home medals from the Central Interior Science Exhibition, which was held on April 1, 2017 at the University of Northern British Columbia. Francois Lake Elementary students Alexander Zayac, Hannah Zayac, Gemma Elliott, Jordan Illes and Amund (Ami) Moore also brought home medals, as well as Decker Lake Elementary students Tate Cooke, Haley Dell and Gabe Finch. The goal of the young scientists was to earn a gold, silver or bronze medal in their category and maybe a chance to participate in the Canada Wide Science Fair in Regina, Saskatchewan in May 2017. However, no School District 91 students were selected to the nationals this year.
