Last year, 2012 was the Forest Service’s 100 year anniversary and a permanent display has been built on the Lakes District Secondary School field to commemorate.
The tree cookie is 340 years old and there are 100 important dates noted on it.
The picture board has pictures of local forestry related events going back through time.
Eventually, an arboretum trail will also begin at this location, currently in a fund-raising stage though trees have been planted and are becoming established.
