The Cheslatta Carrier Nation held its annual camp out July 21-25 this year.
This camp out has occurred every year since 1992. There are various activities conducted during the five day camp out, including a fishing derby, a bannock making contest, a baking contest, as well as the handing out of educational awards.
There are usually fireworks, but this year, due to the fire ban, there weren’t any.
Mike Robertson of Cheslatta Carrier Nation said that the camp out is a great opportunity for the people to reconnect with the land and share stories.
There were 11 baptisms held this year, the first time since 1952.
