The Lakes District campus of the College of New Caledonia (CNC) held its own graduation in Burns Lake as some family and friends could not make the trip down to Prince George for the official graduation.

The Lakes District campus celebrated the achievements of over 70 local students this year.

Approximately 200 students, families and friends congregated last Friday at the Beacon Theatre in Burns Lake to receive their awards and certificates.

Dignitaries who addressed the assembly included: Nathan Cullen, Member of Parliament for Skeena-Bulkley Valley; Luke Strimbold, Mayor of Burns Lake; Chief Corrina Leween from Cheslatta Carrier Nation; and Lake Babine Nation councillor Derek MacDonald.

Programs included the adult education centre (adult dogwood), administrative assistant certificate (ABT); industrial mechanic (millwright)/machinist foundation level, trades discovery, class one driver training, bridging to trades and health care assistant program.
