Burns Lake Mayor Luke Strimbold tries on fire gear with the assistance of fire chief Jim McBride.
Strimbold said he was trying to get a better understanding of the equipment used by the fire fighters during fire prevention week, which ran from Oct. 4 to 10, 2015.
“What I found interesting was how heavy all the equipment and gear is and how a fire fighter must be comfortable with being bundled up and going in tight, dark spaces,” said Strimbold. “It was great to see how many families and young children attended to learn more about fire prevention.”
