The Burns Lake Fire Department held their annual banquet and awards night on Feb. 18, 2017 at Mulvaney’s Pub. Darcy Bell retired this year after seven years of service with the Burns Lake Fire Department. Dirk Hofer was one of 10 local firefighters who received their full service certificate. Darrell Hill won four awards, including the prestigious ’Paul Sandercott firefighter of the year’ award and ‘top responder,’ which is given to the firefighter who dedicated the greatest amount of hours during the year. There were no long service awards this year.
