A new sign has popped up along Hwy. 16 heading West into town.

The ‘Come Visit the Southside’ sign was put up at the beginning of July. However, according to Kelly Friesen of the Southside Economic Development Association the signage isn’t quite finished yet.

Two accent billboards will be put up saying ‘Lakeside, Hillside, Countryside’ for the top log of the sign and another says ‘Follow Hwy. 35 to the Free Ferry!’ for the bottom log. A life sized carved bear will also be attached to the roadside log, as well.

Wayne Thompson is the one responsible for getting the sign up along the highway. Friesen says that the reason for the sign going up is to let drivers know that the Southside is there. “It feels like a work of art to us, but wait until you see it finished,” Friesen said.
