Kinette Park will benefit from grant funding.

The newly revamped accessibility playground at Kinette Park is set to receive even more play equipment this year.

According to Joan Clancy, member of the Kinette Park Committee, a grant of $10,000 has been received by the group from the Success by Six organization in order to move forward with the phase two plans.

Clancy said the committee would like to add some play equipment to benefit children in the one to six year old range, including play panels and potentially a see saw.

Clancy said the group would also like to add more landscaping and trees to the park.

She went on to say that pricing for playground equipment is expensive, so the funds may not stretch too far.

"We will add landscaping and trees when we can," she said.

Clancy also added that more equipment may also be added at a later date if funds are acquired.

"Phase one of the playground has been successful, I see families using the park all the time now, as soon as the snow melted this year people were at the park," she added.

The committee now have plans to order  equipment and have it installed it before the end of the year.

Councillors also recently agreed to a request made by the committee that the Village of Burns Lake would hold on to and accept any grant funds on behalf of the Kinette Park committee.

"We don't have a bank account of our own and can not accept grant funds," Clancy said.

Previously grant funds went through the United Church on behalf of the committee however Clancy said the church board requested a new arrangement be made.
