The Lakes District campus of the College of New Caledonia (CNC) has opened an Aboriginal resource centre (ARC), which is a place for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students to receive help with course work and support. The grand opening took place on Feb. 8 and included the presence of CNC president Henry Reiser. Events such as ‘elder teas’ and storytelling have already taken place on CNC’s Lakes District campus, and staff hope to welcome elders to tea on a monthly basis to connect with students and staff. “I am very excited about this new home for everyone,” said Susie Tress, CNC’s Aboriginal advisor liaison. “We are working hard to make it a welcoming space that provides support for all.”
