David Karn with Ministry of Environment said, “Remediation work is currently underway at the site via excavation - 51 Francois Lake Road.
Contractors are undertaking independent remediation of the site and has an operating water treatment system under permit from the ministry (MOE Permit 15077).
They are completing the remediation of this site under the independent remediation provisions of the legislation.
Current efforts are focussed on addressing the areas of the site with the greatest levels of contamination, as such lower levels of contamination may still be present at the site after this phase of remediation.
We cannot provide a time frame for when remediation of the entire site will be completed.”
