The last co-presentation of the season by the Lakes District Arts Council and The Beacon Theatre of The Met: Live in HD Opera takes place on Sunday, May 29 at 1 p.m. sharp at The Beacon.
All tickets are $12, and are available at the door. Anthony Minghella’s breathtaking production of Puccini’s masterpiece, Madama Butterfly, has thrilled audiences ever since its premiere in 2006.
Kristine Opolais stars in her acclaimed portrayal of the title role, opposite Roberto Alagna as Pinkerton, the naval officer who breaks Butterfly’s heart. Maria Zifchak is Suzuki and Dawyne Croft appears as Sharpless. The production features puppetry by Blind Summit Theatre. Karel Mark Chichon conducts. And… a personal note from one who saw this production live at The Met three weeks ago: it may be one of the most beautiful theatre pieces you will ever see.
So, if you have been thinking about giving The Met: Live in HD a try, this is the production to see.
And if you are an opera fan… do not miss this performance.
