The fourth performance in the Lakes District Arts Council's 'Joy of Six' season takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the First Mennonite Church.

Montreal based soprano Marie-Josée Lord, a rising star on the Canadian music scene, will perform a recital of various works from the classical soprano repertoire, as well as songs from Broadway and the movies.

Marie-Josée stood regally before 100,000 revelers in Ottawa on Canada Day 2010, to sing “God Save the Queen” for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Her first CD, recorded with Montreal’s Orchestre Métropolitain, has sold more than 25,000 copies.

She is proud to present the Lakes District her recital: Jambalaya. Jambalaya is a comforting meal created from vegetables, meat, seafood, bones and good stock.

Marie-Josée’s Jambalaya is a melting pot of popular and classical melodies from Gilles Vigneault to Verdi, from Broadway to opera, from Bizet to Gershwin.

All flavoured by a unique kind of stock: her voice. Bon appétit. Tickets for this performance are available at Process 4 circle arts Gallery phone, 250-692-3434, or at the door the evening of the recital.
