Opening night of Rene Jaspers’ art show in Smithers

An art exhibition called Hope in the North, featuring work by local artist Rene Jaspers, will open on Oct. 26 at the Smithers Art Gallery.

This is the first complete showing of Rene’s Highway of Hope series. There will be prints available at the show.

Join Rene on opening night for the artist reception, Friday Oct. 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Second monthly coffee house

The second "open mic coffee house" event be held on Friday evening, Nov. 4.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the coffee house starts at 7 p.m. The coffee house provides an evening of live entertainment featuring local performers, and is a drop-in performance event at the Heritage Room, next to the Tourist Info Centre on Hwy. 16.

Performers are admitted free; audience members pay $5. All profits go to the Lakes Animal Friendship Society.

Tickets for LDAC’s arts season still on sale

Even though the first show of Lakes District Arts Council’s (LDAC) 2016/17 season is ‘in the books,’ season tickets are still a good buy.

There is still time to buy season tickets for the eleventh season at Process 4 circle arts Gallery, Lakes District Printing and Stationery or the Lakes Artisan Centre.

Season ticket holders support the arts council, enjoy shows for less than $9 each, and are sure to have tickets to the shows they most want to see. And, LDAC has special prices for seniors and families.

If you haven’t yet bought your season tickets but is still thinking about it, stop in to one of LDAC’s ticket outlets, or give a call to John and Sandra Barth at 250-692-3371.

Remember to have cash or a cheque available when you place your season ticket order. LDAC cannot take credit or debit cards.
