A Burns Lake woman, who was charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Decker Lake residence in July this year, has been released on a $25,000 bail with one surety.

She was granted release on September 5, 2024, and officially released on September 13 after fulfilling the conditions of her release order, BC Prosecution Service spokesperson Damienne Darby said in an email statement.

"On September 17, 2024 the Crown sought a variation of the release order, which was granted on September 20, 2024," Darby said. The new release order is still in the amount of $25,000 with one surety, but includes some additional conditions.

The woman's next court appearance is scheduled for November 19, at 9:30 a.m. in Burns Lake courtroom 1 for an arraignment hearing.

The woman was arrested on July 13, after a man was found critically injured at the scene and later died.  She initially faced charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose before being formally charged with manslaughter shortly thereafter.
