Dolores Funk wins Burns Lake mayoral election

Dolores Funk was elected the new mayor of the village of Burns Lake after winning the Oct. 20 election.

Dolores Funk was elected the new mayor of the village of Burns Lake after winning the Oct. 20 election.

Funk won 223 votes, or 58.5 per cent of the vote, with other candidates Albert Gerow and John Rauch securing 35.2 and 5.8 per cent, respectively, according to Civic Info BC.

Voter turnout stood at 26 per cent, or 381 ballots cast out of 1,471 voters.

Four councillors will join the new council by acclamation: Darrell Hill0, Kevin White and Henry Wiebe, including incumbent Charlie Rensby.

Former Mayor Chris Beach was elected in December, 2016 but chose not to seek re-election.
