Former Skin Tyee Nation band manager Nathan Michaluk had a court appearance yesterday where a date was set for him to enter his election. The next hearing will take place on January 22, 2025, at the Burns Lake Provincial Court.

Michaluk faces charges of careless use or storage of a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, following an incident involving firearms and weapons. The charges, under sections 86(1) and 88(1) of the Criminal Code, were confirmed by the BC Prosecution Service.

His legal proceedings began with his first appearance on November 1, followed by another update on November 21. A bail variation hearing was scheduled for December 9 at the Smithers Law Courts.

Michaluk was allegedly terminated from his role as band manager in August 2024, shortly before Skin Tyee Nation Chief Ryan Tom was voted out in October 2024.
