Houston RCMP officers took a person in Granisle into custody the afternoon of Feb. 25 after learning that a man had fire a rifle in the direction of another person earlier that morning.

Officers were in the village at a suspicious house fire when they heard a gunshot.

“While police immediately attempted to determine where the shot came from, they were advised of the calls made to 9-1-1,” said RCMP media officer Corporal Madonna Saunderson in a release today.

After learning that a suspect entered his home on Hagan St., police blocked off the area knowing that the man was armed and had barricaded himself inside.

“At 3:25 p.m. the suspect exited his residence and was taken into custody without further incident,” said Saunderson.

“Police located several firearms in the home including the one believed to have been recently fired.”

Charges have not yet been laid but Saunderson said that suspect could faced multiple weapons offences.
