February 9th: The Met Live in HD presents ‘Aida’ at The Beacon Theatre

The third Met Opera: Live in HD broadcast of the 24/25 season, co-presented by the Lakes District Arts Council and The Beacon Theatre, is Aida on Sunday, February 9th at 1:00 pm.

Verdi’s classic opera Aida, one of the world’s most popular operas, is broadcast in HD from The Met Opera in New York. Soprano Angel Blue makes her long-awaited Met role debut in one of opera’s defining roles as the Ethiopian princess Aida, torn between love and country. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the podium for the premiere of Michael Mayer’s spectacular new staging, which brings audiences inside the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt, with intricate projections and dazzling animations. Mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, following her 2024 debut in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, is Aida’s Egyptian rival Amneris. Leading tenor Piotr Beczała is the soldier Radamès, who completes the greatest love triangle in the repertory. The all-star cast also features baritones Quinn Kelsey as Amonasro and bass Dmitry Belosselskiy as Ramfis.

This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe.

Tickets for the Met operas this season will be $15.00 each, and are available starting at 12:30 pm at The Beacon Theatre box office the day of the performance. Look for LDAC ads next week in the Lakes District News and The Local Connector NW.
