Last September a charity event fund raiser took place at the Lakes District Fall Fair. The late Johnny Johnson, spearheaded this exciting event. Everyone who purchased a ticket for a numbered ball that was entered into a “Ball Drop” that was released by WestLand Helicopters over a field at the fall fair, with a targeted area placed below, the 20 closest balls to the target were measured by the RCMP and some great prizes were won. The grand prize was a ATV which was won by Starland Timber Mart. On behalf of Johnny, his daughter Cindy Shelford presented a cheque for $34,000 to the auxiliary.
