Power went out for over 3,000 BC Hydro customers in the Burns Lake area on June 5, 2025.

Update: Power was restored around 4 p.m., according to the BC Hydro website.

There were two separate outages listed on the website: one, affecting 953 customers, covered the north end of the the village, while the other, affecting 2432 customers, covered the south end of the village and much of the Southside.

A tree across wires was the reason listed for the southern outage while the reason listed for the northern outage was "other." The Lakes District News reached out to BC Hydro for more information regarding the northern outage.

The two outages were actually one and the same but appeared as two on the website, according to a BC Hydro spokesperson. The downed tree was responsible for the loss of power.

Original article remains below.
