Wistaria Hall will celebrate its 100th anniversary on June 28 with a full day of family-friendly activities, food, and live music.
Organizer Beth Mcentire says the festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue through to a family dance ending around 10:30 p.m., marking a major milestone for the historic rural gathering place. The event is being held the weekend before Canada Day, rather than on July 1 as in previous years, to better accommodate the centennial.
Planned activities include kids’ games, two bouncy castles, and children’s programming provided by the local library. Logger sports are also on the schedule, offering entertainment for a broad range of ages.
Food and refreshments will be in plentiful supply throughout the day. The 4-H club will run the concession stand, Grumpy Gal’s Grub food truck will be on site, and a beer garden will offer beverages for adults. A highlight of the event will be a pig roast scheduled for 5:30 p.m., featuring two whole pigs. Attendees planning to take part in the roast are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share.
Also featured will be Frank Bergen’s picture truck, a local attraction, as well as booths set up by area businesses—though Mcentire noted that not all participating vendors have been confirmed.
The day will conclude with a family dance accompanied by live music. The performers will include several members of a former local band, joined by some new faces.
Wistaria’s annual July 1 celebration has long been a tradition, but this year’s event is being moved to the closest weekend to allow for a larger gathering in honor of the centenary. With entertainment, food, and community at its heart, organizers hope the celebration will bring together residents and visitors alike to mark 100 years of shared history at Wistaria Hall.
