Afternoon of dramatic readings at arts fest

WATCH: Nicholas Collier recites story

Children from the region recited poems and did dramatic excerpt readings from stories at the Lakes District Festival of the Performing Arts on March 13 in the Island Gospel Fellowship Hall. Nicholas Collier, from Telkwa read out an excerpt from “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. Courtney Wainwright, from Burns Lake performed a part from S. Morgenstern’s “The Princess Bride.” And Courtney joined Kim Higginson, also from Burns Lake to do an excerpt from Patrick Barrington’s “I Had a Hippopotamus.” The festivities return on March 16 for the Gala Honours Concert.
