Burns Lake conservation officers have been busy responding to bear complaints in the Burns Lake area over the past few weeks.

According to conservation officer Jeff Palm, this time of year bears are typically focused on grazing on grasses and tearing up logs and ant hills, but issues develop when residents leave out attractants such as bird seed and unsecured garbage.

The public is encouraged to report any bears getting into conflicts with livestock or unsecured garbage to the 24-hour hotline at 1-877-952-7277.
