Between Apr. 7 and Apr. 13, 2014 Burns Lake RCMP responded to a total of 71 calls for service and lodged four prisoners. A summary of some of the calls for service include

Over the week a total of three check stops were conducted in various locations. A total of 98 motor vehicles were stopped and verbal warnings being issued to several drivers for equipment and administrative deficiencies.

Over the week Burns Lake detachment responded to a total of three animal related calls for service. Two of the files involved disputes between nieghbours while one was in relation to a moose posing a traffic hazard on Hwy. 16 east. The responding member located the moose and effectively moved the moose from the roadway.

Impaired driver

At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Apr. 12, 2014 police observed a traffic violation in the 200 block of 7 Avenue in Burns Lake. In stopping the driver the investigating member noted the driver to display signs of impairment. The driver, an adult male from Burns Lake, failed the roadside screening device and was issued a 90 day driving prohibition, the motor vehicle impounded for 30 days and the drivers licensed seized. Police remind the public that if you plan to drink - don't drive.

Break and enter

At approximately 5:57 a.m. on Apr. 12, 2014 police received a call for service for a break and enter in progress at a residence on Uncha Lake Road, Southbank. Police responded and found an adult male unlawfully inside a residence. The suspect was arrested for Break, Enter with Intent and returned to the detachment for processing. The suspect was released on court process for appearance in Provincial court in Burns Lake in June 2014.

Fight club

At approximately 2:49 a.m. on Apr. 13, 2014 police received a call for service to a residence in the 100 block of Chaz Avenue in Burns Lake in relation to an intoxicated adult male attempting to fight people inside the residence. Upon police arrival the suspect was located outside the residence and arrest for being drunk in a public place. The suspect was transported to the detachment, lodged in cells until sober and released unconditionally.

Assault

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Apr. 13, 2014 police received a call for service to a residence in the 900 block of Babine Crescent in Burns Lake in relation to an assault. Police investigation determined an intoxicated adult male had assaulted another adult male. Police arrested the suspect for assault, lodged in cells until sober and at the wish of the victim did not pursue a charge of assault.
