Burns Lake community suffers great loss

Flags are at half-mast at Lakes District Secondary School in Burns Lake. Students and staff mourn the loss of a student and his mother.

The Burns Lake community has suffered another terrible loss. On Nov. 29, Akiko Hofer and her son lost their lives in a highway accident near Prince George.

The B.C. Coroners Service continues to investigate the accident.

Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) staff and students have rallied in support of teacher Dirk Hofer and his young daughter.

A 3 p.m. memorial service is planned for Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at LDSS.
