Burns Lake RCMP seize cash and weapons

One adult female and four adult males were arrested during a high risk stop of a motor vehicle on Hwy. 16 last week.

According to St. Sgt. Grant MacDonald from the Burns Lake RCMP detachment the vehicle was stopped at approximately 6:39 p.m. on Oct. 2, 2011.

"As a result of an ongoing investigation, police stopped a dark colored truck with five occupants east of Burns Lake. Police arrested one adult female and four adult males at the scene," St. Sgt. MacDonald said.

Upon a search of the motor vehicle, police seized a 12 gauge shotgun, a set of brass knuckles and an undisclosed amount of cash.

All people arrested were subsequently transported to the Burns Lake RCMP detachment for further investigation.

A charge of impaired driving has been recommended against the male driver.

A second male occupant of the motor vehicle has been released without charges, while two males and the female remain in custody.

All people charged will be released on court process for provincial court in Burns Lake in December.
