Burns Lake snowmobiler arrested for impaired driving

On Feb. 6, 2012, the Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a report of a snowmobiler operating erratically on Center Street.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2012, the Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a report of a snowmobiler operating erratically on Center Street.

Officers from the detachment as well as the Burns Lake Traffic Services department immediately responded to the location of Center Street and Second Avenue, where the snowmobiler was reported to be.

Police located a man attempting to free his stuck snowmobile and arrested the operator for impaired driving.

Police are recommending one charge of impaired operation, one charge of driving while over .08 and one charge of refusing to provide a breath sample pursuant to the Criminal Code.

The 43 year old Burns Lake resident was released on a court document to appear in Provincial Court in Burns Lake during April 2012.

Burns Lake RCMP wish to highlight this investigation as an example of how an alert citizen reporting a crime quickly helped the police get a criminal off the street.
