No winter clothes: at 1:40 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2014 police observed an adult female exit a Greyhound bus in Burns Lake. Police noted the female to be under dressed for the existing weather conditions and the female indicted to police that she had no where to stay until the next day. Police assisted the female in finding suitable temporary accommodations utilizing a local service provider.

Hit & Run: At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2014 a resident of Southbank attended the RCMP detachment to report a hit and run which occurred earlier in the day while parked in the parking lot near Canada Post. Damage to the motor vehicle is estimated over $1000. Police ask anyone who may have information pertaining to this incident to call the Burns Lake RCMP.

Unexpected death: At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2014 police assisted the BC Coroner Service by responding to a sudden death involving a 55 year old male inside a residence on Eakin Settlement Rd. The death was deemed non criminal in nature.

Dynamite found: At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2014 a local citizen reported finding two sticks of dynamite along the railway tracks some time ago and had the items stored locally. After consultation with the Explosive Disposal Unit out of RCMP headquarters in the lower mainland, police seized what was deemed to be two flares which accompany dynamite blasting kits. These flares will be disposed of by the Explosive Disposal Unit in the future when they come to Burns Lake.

Impaired driver: At approximately 2:38 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2014 while on general patrol in the area of a local hotel police observed the driver of a truck fail to stop at a stop sign. Upon stopping the driver for the traffic violation the investigating member noted signs of impairment of the driver. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and returned to the detachment where samples of 150 mgs per cent and 160 mgs per cent were obtained. Charges of impaired driving are being recommended against the driver with a court date in April 2014.

B: At approximately 4:00 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2014 while on general patrol in the area of Tsa Street in Burns Lake a member observed an individual attempting to get a truck which was stuck in the ditch, out. Upon dealing with the adult male driver signs of impairment were noted and the driver was detained for impaired driving. The driver provided two samples of breath on an approved screening device which resulted in readings of fail. The driver was issued an immediate roadside prohibition for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 30 days. On 2014-02-12 at 09:35hrs a sedan headed northbound on Highway 35 two km south of burns lake lost control on a right hand curve and departed the roadway to the right, rolling over in the process and coming to a rest on the passenger side facing the wrong direction. The driver and sole occupant suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance. Drivers are reminded to adjust their speed for icy and snowy highway conditions.

Foot race: On 2014-02-14 at 12:25hrs a 25 year old male entered the College of New Caledonia and started assaulting a student. When staff at the college stepped in to help the male also assaulted them. Upon the police arriving the male fled on foot and was arrested after a brief foot chase. Police are forwarding charges of assault.
