George Janzen ran the first board through the planer at Decker Lake Forest Products (DLFP).  “It was built for a maximum of 350 board feet (per minute),” George said, “but many products were run through at 600 board feet.” The original 1925 planer was purchased for $1000 and was recently replaced by a newer planer built in 1965.

George, now retired, was present for the final shutdown of the original planer and he ran the last two boards through.

DLFP will be shut down for this upcoming week so a new planer can be installed. The planer shift gathered for a photo op with George.
