There was a small explosion at the Burns Lake Pinnacle Pellet plant last Tuesday evening.  According to Leroy Reitsma, Pinnacle Renewable Energy Group (Pinnacle) chief operating officer,  the explosion was the result of a valve failure.  The valve should have diverted the explosion out of the process system, but instead the force of the explosion entered a large surge bin.

The plant has temporarily suspended operations to determine the cause of the failure.  Pinnacle has brought in industry experts to investigate and expects to be operational again early next week.
