A fuel tanker carrying diesel for the Vanderhoof and Districts Co-op tipped over approximately 500 metres from Takysie Lake last week. Although locals were concerned about a possible spill, the Co-op says there was no spill. “Residents don’t have to be concerned,” said Joe von Doellen, Co-op's operations manager. “We followed all environmental precautions.” The B.C. Ministry of Environment said there were no reports of spill. The incident took place on Jan. 18, 2017, at 8:45 a.m. on the corner of Hewitt Road and Eakin Settlement Road on the Southside. Von Doellen said the accident occurred due to slippery road conditions.
