Orphaned moose calve.

Conservation officers have been busy in the local area with calls this past week of orphaned moose calves, deer fawns and bear cubs.

In each of the cases individuals have attempted to step in and capture the orphaned animals and take them away to a residence.

Officers would like to remind the public to leave orphaned wildlife where they find them and make observations from a distance.

Unleashed dogs are particularly to blame in separating moose calves from their mothers in the Burns Lake and area.  If the mother has not returned for the juvenile over a 24 hour period the public can contact conservation officers toll free at 1-877-952-7277 and arrangements can be made to transfer the animal to a rehab center.
