A Burns Lake RCMP officer is facing a lawsuit over an incident that happened at Lake Babine Nation reserve last year.
According to the Prince George Citizen, the civil notice of claim against officer Aaron Vaagh Semmler was filed last week in B.C. Supreme Court in Prince George.
The claim alleges that Semmler hit a 10-year-old boy with an RCMP SUV, causing an injury to the boy's occipital bone on the back of his head, cuts and abrasions on his scalp and pain in his lower back and pelvic posterior.
According to the Prince George Citizen, the boy was riding his bike east on Tsa Street on July 28, 2015 when the incident took place.
The claim also states that Semmler was negligent and was driving at an excessive speed, and had turned left without making sure he could do so safely.
Lake Babine Nation Chief Wilf Adam said, "I hope justice will prevail and proper outcomes for all concerned."
Semmler continues to work in Burns Lake. None of allegations have been proven in court.
