Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in death of Destiny Rae Tom

On March 23, 2013, the Fraser Lake RCMP responded to a 911 call in the Fort Fraser area where they found Tom deceased.

Garrett Steven George, 29, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in relation to the death of Destiny Rae Tom.

On March 23, 2013, the Fraser Lake RCMP responded to a 911 call in the Fort Fraser area where they found Tom deceased outside of a residence on the Nadleh First Nation reserve near Fort Fraser.

George entered the plea on June 13, 2016, during a voir dire hearing in B.C. Supreme Court in Prince George. George had been facing a charge of second-degree murder in Tom's death; he was arrested and charged in February 2015.

Tom was a resident of the Nadleh First Nations reserve and the daughter of Andy and Vivian Tom. Destiny and George were known to each other.

A date for sentencing George has not yet been set.
