Mercury drops to -40C

Old Man Winter was especially grumpy on the morning of Feb. 3 as temperatures in Burns Lake dropped to -40C. That breaks the record daily low for February of -38.7, set on Feb. 24, 1994, according to data from the Weather Network. The coldest recorded temperature for the village was -43.6 on Dec. 29, 1996.
