Minerals North a booming success for Burns Lake

Mayor Luke Strimbold said that Burns Lake's Minerals North 2012 was an outstanding success.

Mayor Luke Strimbold said that Burns Lake should be proud to have the volunteers and sponsors who made Minerals North 2012 such an outstanding success. He said, “As a community we are working at diversifying our economy and as a result of this event our businesses, residents, and local college had a chance to network and explore their opportunities in the growing industry of mining. This event also promoted our airport, new hospital, multi use facility expansion, and downtown revitalization. We believe in ‘live here, work anywhere."

Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Pat Bell arrived in Burns Lake last week to make a brief speech at the Minerals North 2012 conference.

The future is bright for the province of B.C. according to Bell. With the newly innovated plans his cabinet has been working on, he sees B.C. prospering within the next few years. He congratulated Burns Lake and Mayor Strimbold for hosting such a wonderful event and forging ahead after the tragedy that occurred at Babine Forest Products on Jan. 28, 2012.
