At approximately 9:29 a.m. on Oct. 20, 2011, the Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a report of a multiple motor vehicle incident on Hwy. 16 East, near Babine Forest Products.

RCMP immediately responded to the scene and determined that a tractor trailer unit traveling North on Augier Forest Service Rd. clipped a power line, causing two power poles to fall and the power line to sag over Hwy. 16.

As a result, an East bound tractor trailer unit traveling on Hwy. 16 struck the low lying overhead power line causing the wire to snap into the windshield of another tractor trailer unit, causing significant damage to the cab and trailer. Fortunately, there were no injuries sustained in this incident.

The Burns Lake Fire and Rescue department assisted by conducting traffic control and BC Hydro attended to repair the damage to the power poles and line.

The Burns Lake RCMP detachment continue to investigate this matter.
