Houston RCMP say a fire which destroyed a house in Granisle early in the morning of Feb. 25 is believed to be suspicious.

The fire on Fulton St. had fully engulfed the residence when Houston RCMP officers arrived shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Members of the Granisle Volunteer Fire Department were already at the residence.

“The resident of the home was able to get his dog out,” reported RCMP media officer Corporal Madonna Saunderson. “Neither were injured.”

She said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

The RCMP also blocked off a road just before the Village of Granisle office but it is not known if that was connected to the fire or not.

There were earlier reports of a neighbourhood dispute involving firearms.

If you have any information or were in the area at the time of the fire, contact the Houston RCMP at (250) 845-2204.
