The community is mourning the death of a person on the Southside after a fatal car crash in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 11.
The Burns Lake detachment of the RCMP was called to the accident on Keefes Landing Road at approximately 4 a.m. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
According to the RCMP, alcohol is believed to be a factor. The RCMP is conducting the investigation in conjunction with the B.C. Coroners Service. No further information is being released at this time.
A different accident in Topley left five people injured last week.
The Houston RCMP was called to the accident on Aug. 10 at approximately 7 p.m. One vehicle was located off the road down the embankment. All injuries were considered non-life threatening. This matter continues to be investigated by the Houston RCMP. If anyone witnessed the accident they can report it to the Houston RCMP at 250-845-2204.
