An evacuation alert has been issued to residents and the public on or near Tetachuck Lake.
A wild land fire burning in Tweedsmuir Park six kilometres east of the area has been determined by the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako (RDBN) to pose an elevated threat to public safety.
Residents should now prepare themselves for an evacuation order by locating family members or co-workers and plan an evacuation meeting place, gathering essential items like medications or valuable papers and keeping them packed and ready to go for quick departure.
Move pets or livestock to a safe area and make sure that transportation methods are available for everyone.
